castaway

Castaway started as a studio editorial of found items awash the shores of Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Debris and wildlife are photographed individually then presented en masse to show what mixture of organic and inorganic matter is currently in the Coral Sea. The unnatural objects highlight the strain humanity places on the health of the ocean, particularly the presence of plastics and ghost nets. This project is ever-expanding as we take a look at where the debris is coming from and what other parts of the world are doing to manage waste. This is an on-going project.

Waste management collapse and poverty coincide on small Pacific Islands, creating daily environmental and humanitarian crises. Indonesia, 2019.
